In the United States, among women aged 15 to 49 years with no prior births, about 1 in 5 (19%) are unable to get pregnant after one year of trying (infertility). Also, about 1 in 4 (26%) women in this group have difficulty getting pregnant or carrying a pregnancy to term (impaired fecundity).

It is not difficult to imagine that there are a wide variety of women who under different circumstances have not been able to have a baby; but deep down, all women who have not had their babies yet, are already moms.

On this day you might experience a bittersweet feeling, while some women are celebrating among their children, others are struggling to make a pregnancy happen. Regardless of whether you have infertility or you're going through a miscarriage, we want to tell you that, despite what you already know, having a baby does not make you a mom, because being a mom is a verb, it's what you do, it begins in the moment you start fighting against everything to have your baby. At that moment you are already a mom.

Like the seasons, celebrations are changing, evolving, and although they keep their essence, it is our duty to adapt to the new needs that arise in our society. It is time to start celebrating all moms on this day, those who already have their children, and those who are in their tireless quest to meet them.

What defines us as moms?

Is it the pregnancy, the typical scolding? I want you to take a moment to consider this question. Do you already have your answer? Being a mom is a title that we can't give to just anyone, it is true, but we can certainly give it to women who, despite not having a baby, get up every day to get those injections and pray at night that the time to meet their baby will come soon.

We are going to grant this title to all those women who, after thousands of negative tests, never lost faith, because they knew that this unbearable pain was temporary, that one day it would be a memory and in the future, they would be laughing with their little one.

We call 'mom' to women who, despite their age and regardless of "What will they say?" fight to make their dream come true.

We call 'mom' to all those women who did not wait for a prince charming to run and fight for the family as they imagined, and despite knowing that the path would not be a bed of roses, decided to overcome barriers and try everything to achieve it.

We call 'mom' to all those tireless fighters, who are about to start their fertility treatment even though they may have faced obstacles, and now have the hope that this time it will be different.

Moms are no the same, they all come in different shapes, sizes, and presentations, but there’s nothing better to describe the word "mom" than unconditional love. She will always do everything for your well-being, since long before being in her womb, since she visualizes you and fights for you.

You Got This!

As we said above, this timeless tradition of showing gratitude doesn't go away, it just evolves. Stop believing in every bad thought you may have this day, and start believing in yourself, YOU ARE A MOM.

Because being a mom goes far beyond all our limits and our crazy imagination, is a verb, it's something we do, it’s something’s that we make possible. Start believing that you are a mom, since the first step to meeting your baby.

Please never give up. We will always be here for you! Reminding you that you are already a mom!
